Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA-UK) Approved Advanced Environment Management Systems Auditors Course Background

The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) is a not-for-profit organization established to promote best practice standards in environmental management, auditing and assessment. Its origins lie in the merger in 1999 of the Institute of Environmental Management, the Institute of Environmental Assessment, and the Environmental Auditors Registration Association (EARA).

With over 10,000 individual and corporate members, the institute supports its members by providing recognition of environmental competence through various level of membership, identifying trends and good practice in sustainable organization development, building network of like minded individuals, and representing views to government and regulators. One of the main goals the IEMA has set itself is to provide individuals working in the environmental field with a range of high quality training courses, which provide a route to IEMA membership and impart knowledge and skills that can be used in the workshop. Background

This Five-day auditors course is intended to be an Advanced EMS auditor's course. Considering the environmental challenges industries face in India, the course is designed to provide both technical knowledge and practical skills essential for an Environmental Auditor.

This auditor course expects the trainee environment auditors to equip with the basic knowledge about environment and related issues and to an extent national environmental law. The auditor course provides the trainee auditors with the background knowledge of environment management systems as per ISO 14001:2004 and the various standardized approaches, types of environmental audits and auditing methodologies.

The course provides the maximum number of training points (i.e. five points) attainable under IEMA scheme. The training course coupled with an appropriate qualification background, will enable course participants to register as Associate Environmental Auditors. Further experience gained in environmental activities will allow auditors to progress through the subsequent levels of the IEMA scheme.

Course Assessment

Individuals are assessed on the basis of:

• Tutor's overall assessment of the performance of an individual during the course that will account for 40% of the total course assessment.
• A written examination will account for 60% of the total course assessment.

Registration Fee & Process

• Rs. 22,000/- (Rupees Twenty two thousand) per participant.
• Rs. 18,000/- (Rupees eighteen thousand) per participant, if there are 3 or more participants from a single organization.
