The first - ever CII - ITC Sustainability Awards were presented in April 2006 at the CII AGM by Mr. Kamal Nath - India's Minister for Commerce & Industry. Sixty companies applied for the Sustainability Awards 2006; over half of them were from the metallurgical sector, over a third from the automotive sector and the remainder were from other sectors (textiles, chemicals, food / food products, etc.).
