Conference Concept Note

Climate change is the grave issue that people across the globe are dealing with over last few decades as it has deep impact on our planet’s ecosystem and ecology. Five years ago,196 countries signed The Paris Agreement, and collectively pledged to set out a global framework to avoid dangerous climate change by limiting global warming to well below 2°C and pursuing efforts to limit it to 1.5°C.

India being one of the signatories to the agreement has committed for a decarbonised future, adopt carbon reduction methodologies and practices. Different initiatives are taken to achieve zero emission targets. Technological innovations and solutions are also critical to get the desired results.

One such solution is sustainable manufacturing, where fewer natural resources are utilized and efforts are focused to reduce pollution and waste, recycle and reuse materials, and moderate emissions in their processes.

The conferencewill bring together representation from companies, government, institutions, scientists, academia. The two sessions will focus on solutions for reducing carbon emissions and understand the best practices of Indian Industry in designing and manufacturing products from sustainable materials.

Session on Climate Change Solutions

Session timing- 1400-1500hrs

In the fight against climate change, more and more companies are waking up to the opportunities of net zero emissions. There is a pressing need to accelerate and strengthen technological solutions so that it can deliver environmentally and socially sound, cost-effective and better-performing climate technologies on a larger and more widespread scale.

The session will focus on challenges and opportunities faced by India industry in achieving a low-carbon emission, technological solutions that help in meeting Paris Agreements targets and NDCs, and technologies for low emissions.

Manufacturing for a Sustainable Tomorrow

Session timing- 1500-1600hrs

Sustainable manufacturing is the creation of manufactured products through economically-sound processes that minimize negative environmental impacts while conserving energy and natural resources. By improving the efficiency of equipment and processes, energy consumption and manufacturing time can be reduced, with reduction of waste generation and usage of raw materials — all of which can provide significant cost savings

Many of the India’s biggest manufacturers are adopting sustainable manufacturing on a company wide basis. The results can be measured in energy savings, reduced carbon emissions, better waste treatment, and a variety of clean technologies and products.

The session will serve as a unique platform that will focus on technologies and designs for manufacturing, lean and green, zero-waste, green chemistry and clean technologies that have been adopted by Indian Industry and can act as a source of reference and inspiration for others.

Concluding Session

Session timings-1600-1630 hrs

The concluding session will sum up the main discussions from both the sessions and highlight the new technologies and best practices discussed to achieve sustainable, resilient and carbon neutral future.
