Overview

The world is under the grip of pressing environmental, social, and financial challenges. According to the Global Risks Report 2024, extreme weather events occupy the second spot with respect to short terms risks and in the coming decade, climate- related threats that include critical change to earth systems, biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse, natural resource shortages, and pollution, dominate the top ten risks global population will face.

‘Change’ being an inevitable part of life, ‘effective change’ will metamorphose the present world into an efficient, sustainable, and equitable one.

The previous year has witnessed remarkable contributions from sustainability leaders and visionaries in driving positive change at a global scale. Efforts are aligned in investing and implementing sustainability strategies tackling complex challenges and improving the world. Significant deliberation on international platforms have featured commitments to mainstream LIFE, implement sustainable energy transitions, provide sustainable finance, reaffirm the pursuit of SDGs, address plastic pollution, preserve the ocean-based economy, establishing a Global Goal on Adaptation framework, and operationalizing the loss and damage fund.

It is essential for stakeholders across the world to speculate on the impacts, consider a holistic systems approach required to build the regenerative capacity of Earth where societies and ecosystems survive.

The 19th Sustainability Summit will deliberate on tangible actions in driving sustainable change. It will further highlight these inspiring actions and exemplify the power of innovation, development, and cooperation in shaping a prosperous future for all.
