Electric mobility frame of the West and China won’t work for India: McKinsey’s Brajesh Chibber
My work has enabled me to understand and respect nature more profoundly. It has enabled me to learn every day how each one of us can contribute towards restoring and conserving nature and the pertinent role that society and industry can play in creating an equilibrium. It is a wonderful opportunity to work professionally in an area which is also a lifelong passion.
Living my life in a manner that limits my impact on the environment is something that I have practiced for a long time. My work on circular economy at the Centre enables me to extend my personal belief to a wider audience with the help of data and evidence to assist stakeholders in embracing circularity at all levels.
I am grateful to CII for providing me an opportunity to work with its one of the core portfolios- Environment Policy Advocacy. This platform, has enabled me to work on varied policy issues ranging from Air Pollution, Plastic Waste to Environment Clearances. While working with CII Environment Policy Advocacy team, my thought process has been re-wired and I see things differently. If I come across a new Environment Policy, I start thinking about its possible impacts on environment, society and businesses. Being an environment professional, I love what I do and my work has empowered me to realise my commitments towards environment into actions, with positive impacts on the same.
I have been travelling with CESD for more than 5 years and when I look back, it takes me to the good learnings I have had these years. Be it in the team of Sustainability Awards by creating awareness on sustainability practices or my role in the Central Marketing Team, creating capacities in business, it gives me immense pleasure to continuously engage with our stakeholders.
I have shared professional space in a few more organisations during my career, where, most of the time, I was working on a single profile. My professional journey with CESD provides a versatile platform where I handle things at the back end, task administration, marketing, team management, interacting with & managing stakeholders. Learning through trainings and webinars being organised from time to time by CESD help me to increase my knowledge and skills as well as gives me the confidence to expand my profile in a more practical manner.
My current role at the CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development enables me to contribute actively towards a sustainable world. As a member of the mobility sector, I am involved in developing policies that promote sustainable transportation, along with the implementation and pilot programs of the same, including the adoption of electric vehicles. I am passionate about working towards a greener future and feel proud to be associated with an organization that shares the same values. My expertise and knowledge in this field helps me to make a positive impact and create a better, more sustainable world.
The Centre allows me to create valuable and visible impact using my time, intellect, and energy in a professional setting. It is an enriching experience to share the same professional space with colleagues who possess knowledge on different aspects of sustainability and help in the collective growth of the Centre.
Sustainability offers us an incredible opportunity to reimagine our relationship with the planet, to build thriving communities, and to create a better future for all. By embracing sustainability, we can unlock a world of innovation, collaboration, and shared prosperity that benefits both people and the planet. At CII Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development, I have been fortunate to work with a team of passionate individuals who share a common goal of promoting sustainability. Through my work here, I have gained a deeper appreciation for the interdisciplinary nature of sustainability, and how it requires a holistic understanding of economic, social, and environmental issues.
Utilizing available resources in the most efficient manner is something we all can relate to, living in this country where nothing is ever considered as waste but instead of other use. My work in the Centre drives me to look for new ways to utilize agriculture waste in the best possible manner by either recycling nutrients or make new products. While building evidence on the impact of adopted improved practices forms the foundation for advocating solutions and further scaling, a mass scale behavior change is key to sustainability.
It is surprising to see how a problem called “waste management” has transformed into an opportunity called “circular economy” in a short span of time. The Centre has helped me to expand my horizon and look for opportunities of intervention in circularity aspect in all waste streams
