The India Plastics Pact, launched in September 2021, is an ambitious, collaborative initiative that aims to bring together businesses, governments and NGOs to chain to implement practical solutions. It is a collaboration between the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and WWF-India. The CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development (CESD) anchors the India Plastics Pact, within CII. It is supported by WRAP, a global NGO based in the UK. The Pact aims to change the way plastics are designed, used and reused to transition to a circular economy where plastics never become waste. IPP is the first Pact in Asia, and as of January, 2022, joins a network of 13 Plastic Pacts across the globe.
